Dull, Worn, Etched Marble Floor
Homeowners in the Tampa Bay, Florida area contacted us because their marble floor had a worn appearance. Minor scratches and etch damage diminished the appearance of the finish. Since marble is a soft, calcite-based stone, it shows signs of wear with regular use over the course of time. Fortunately, marble can be refinished to like-new condition with professional stone restoration services. We provided a free consultation and estimate to restore the floors in the master bathroom, two guest bathrooms, the living and dining areas, the hallway, and an entrance. They wasted no time scheduling services.
Marble Honing, Polishing, and Sealing
We restored the marble using a traditional natural stone restoration process. First, we masked and protected the walls, cabinets, appliances, and other surfaces surrounding our work area. Then, we used diamond encrusted pads mounted on a floor machine to hone the floor. The honing process removed the surface damage and revealed a brand new layer of marble. To achieve a reflective, lightly polished finish, we swapped out the pads used for honing with a series of progressively finer grit diamond pads. After we polished the marble, our final step was to apply a high-quality impregnating sealer to inhibit staining.
The homeowners were very pleased with the beautiful results. In fact, one of them put his face right down on the floor to inspect closely and remarked, “Wow. This floor now looks better than when it was first installed!”
